Justice for the Murder of Corey Comperatore

Press Release - Butler, PA : Trump Assassination Attempt - Justice for the Murder of Corey Comperatore

Citizens of Butler County are still waiting for answers around what happened at the July 13th assassination attempt on President Trump. To find these answers a group of Butler residents, with national support, have been urging Butler County DA Richard Goldinger to convene a Citizens Grand Jury to investigate the attempted assassination of President Trump and the murder of local Butler resident Corey Comperatore.

Why a County Grand Jury made up of local citizens? As part of their charter they have the power to require that testimony from witnesses identified in the investigation be provided under oath and subject to perjury. Also, the 5th Amendment “right to remain silent”; does not apply to witnesses before a Grand Jury preventing stonewalling of the investigation. A Grand Jury can demand, via subpoena, un-redacted documents not available under the Freedom of Information Act and/or the PA Right to Know laws. And, a Grand Jury can hand down Indictments including but not limited to perjury, witness tampering, conspiracy to commit a crime, negligent homicide and other crimes.

Butler citizens have gathered over 9,000 signatures on a petition requesting DA Richard Goldinger to request a Butler County Judge to convene this grand jury. The murder of Corey Comperatore, and the life-threatening injuries to David Dutch and James Copenhaver, were all committed in Butler County Pennsylvania; therefore Butler County’s DA Richard Goldinger has jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute these crimes.

But DA Goldinger has formally declined to encourage the court to do so in his response letter. Why not? Because, in his opinion, the State Police are doing the investigation and they are doing a great job. But, whatever the State Police have found is a secret from the citizens and families impacted after almost 7 months of investigating. Another reason DA Goldinger gives is that he does not want to burden the taxpayers of Butler County. The truth is that the state will pay 80% of the cost. The remaining 20% would amount to about $1.00 for every citizen in Butler County. So the question is, what price does DA Goldinger put on justice in Butler County?

The reality is that there was a terrible security failure on July 13 th . And the Pennsylvania State Police, FBI, ATF, and Homeland Security cannot effectively investigate themselves. They were also participants in the events of that day, so how can they be impartial and unbiased? These groups are currently denying Freedom of Information Act requests from organizations like Judicial Watch and from individual citizens.

A Congressional Committee, headed by Representative Mike Kelly, worked to get to the bottom of the events on July 13. But this committee depends on cooperation from the agencies and people requested to appear before them. And these agencies refused to cooperate. The only thing that came out of this much publicized committee was a report that did not have answers to the most critical questions and did not, because it does not have the authority, recommend any indictments or further actions. No one will be punished by Congress. No one will be fired and so the victims will never receive the Justice they deserve.

In DA Goldinger’s own words from his letter to the Butler County Republican Committee: “The taxpayers of Butler County do not need to be burdened with this expense when it is apparent what occurred that day. (sic) Before I made my final decision on your request, I wanted to consult with President Judge Yeager on this issue. President Judge Yeager agrees with me that impaneling a grand jury, at Butler County taxpayer expense, is unnecessary and will not lead to a different conclusion than that which has already been reached.”

We need better than this for the families of Corey Comperatore, David Dutch and James Copenhaver from Butler County, the citizens of Butler, and the citizens of the USA. Please feel free to respectfully call DA Goldinger at 724-284-5222 to request his help in convening a Citizens Grand Jury to investigate July 13.
